While the story itself is a good one, I'll be honest: you're watching this movie for Maxine Peake. She is given a colorful and quirky character, and she absolutely knocks it out of the park. She effortlessly shifts between the different sides of the character, and it was so enjoyable to watch her work. I was also really impressed with how the mother-daughter relationship was portrayed. Funny Cow looked down on her mother until she was in a similar situation. Even then, she still questioned her, even though she had made the same mistakes. The final scene was excellent.
